Entry into the Level Two Mathematics Courses.

The assessment is at 9.00 am on Thursday the 28th of January 2010, prior to your option change time. Decisions on your Mathematics option for 2010 will be made at this time.

As per the 2010 Options Booklet the entry requirement to the Level Two Mathematics courses are outlined below.

Level Two Mathematics (Achievement Standard Course):

    • A minimum of 16 Level One credits from Year 11 Mathematics, including
    • Merit or above in at least two external Achievement Standards, including AS90147 (Algebra)

Level Two Mathematics (Alternative Course):

    • Satisfactory completion of a Level One Mathematics course.

If a student does not meet the entry criteria then the following process of review is available.

  • If a student gains a Merit pass or above in the External Algebra Achievement Standard but fails to gain a second Merit in the External Examinations, then they must provide their latest school practice external examination papers for the Head of Mathematics to review.
  • If a student does not gain a Merit pass or above in AS90147 (Algebra), but otherwise satisfies the criteria then they will be required to complete a further assessment to demonstrate their ability in Algebra.
    This programme will include a 30 minute assessment of the required algebra skills.

NOTE: Any final decision on entry shall be made by the Head of the Mathematics Faculty.
